Developing new coatings and color tones in PVD technology is anything but routine. This is especially true for blue surfaces, because the desired shade does not occur by chance, but only through the precise interaction of numerous process parameters.
What may look simple at first glance is, in practice, a demanding task. What matters is not only the visual appearance, but also the shade, reflective behavior, and durability of the coating. This is exactly where it becomes clear how closely material selection, layer design, and process control are linked in vacuum technology.
At INORCOAT, work has been carried out on a series of new blue PVD coatings that make different stages of development and fine-tuning visible. Each sample represents a specific step in the optimization process and shows how color, depth, clarity, and consistency can be influenced through the coating itself.
Especially in the development of colored PVD layers, the challenge lies in combining technical reproducibility with aesthetic impact. A convincing surface must not only look good, but also be reliably achievable within the process.
The results of this development work show the potential of precisely tuned PVD processes. For INORCOAT, this is a central part of daily work: developing solutions layer by layer that combine technological requirements with design ambitions.
